Comedian Eric Omondi, known for his philanthropic efforts, is under scrutiny after Victor Juma, a beneficiary of his support, voiced concerns about their communication. Juma, who received approximately KSh 400,000 through an online fundraiser organized by Omondi, claims that the comedian has since ceased communication with him.

Victor Juma gained widespread attention in July 2023 after a video of him standing up to police officers who teargassed his daughter during a protest in Mathare went viral. This act of defiance resonated with many Kenyans, leading to a wave of support.
Eric Omondi’s Assistance
Eric Omondi took notice of Juma’s situation and initiated a fundraiser, successfully collecting around KSh 400,000. With these funds, Omondi facilitated Juma’s relocation from Mathare to Ruaka and helped him establish a boutique business.
Struggles and Lack of Communication
Almost a year later, Juma has expressed frustration, claiming that Omondi has stopped picking his calls. He revealed that despite his gratitude for the initial support, he feels abandoned.
I still appreciate Eric Omondi because he came through even though he no longer picks up my calls. I want to apologise in case I wronged him. I have called him several times, but he is not answering my calls. When I call with a strange number, he picks up. I wonder what I did to him or if he finished my case.
Juma shared in a recent interview.
Facing financial difficulties, Juma has moved from Ruaka to the more affordable Obama estate. He explained, “After life became like that, I moved from Ruaka to the Obama estate. I moved to that place because life there is cheaper. I got a one-bedroom house at KSh 7,000, while at Ruaka, I used to pay KSh 18,000 for a one-bedroom house. I changed my lifestyle, but even Eric doesn’t know that. I just decided to move on independently.”

Eric Omondi has previously emphasized the importance of ensuring donated funds are used appropriately. He has implemented measures such as depositing funds into beneficiaries’ bank accounts with withdrawal restrictions and requiring beneficiaries to seek permission before accessing these funds. This approach aims to maintain accountability and proper use of the donated money.
